What’s the Salary Range for Real Estate Agents in Arizona?

As for real estate agent salaries in Arizona, they can vary based on factors such as experience level, market conditions, and geographic location. According to leading job recruitment websites, the average yearly salary for new real estate agents usually ranges from $40,000 to $60,000.

However, successful agents working for reputable brokerages in metropolitan areas like Phoenix and Tucson can earn over $100,000 annually. It’s important to note that achieving high-income levels may take some time.

The majority of your earnings will come from commissions and bonuses so the more sales you make, the greater your earning potential over time. This highlights the significance of activities like prospecting, lead generation, and networking.

Here are the average annual wages for real estate agents in major metro areas in Arizona;

  •  Phoenix; $62,620
  •  Tucson; $55,100
  •  Mesa; $59,100
  •  Chandler; $56,500
  •  Glendale; $51,930
  •  Scottsdale; $64,460
  •  Gilbert; $62,040

Income for new agents often starts lower as they gain clients and valuable experience in the first 1 to 3 years on the job. As such, don’t expect to earn six figures immediately.

However, with hard work and perseverance, a healthy six-figure income is possible within your first 3 to 5 years of practice. Smart budgeting, business development skills, and proper expectations set the stage for long-term success.

Real Estate License Continuation and Mutual State Licensing Acknowledgment in Arizona

Once approved, Arizona real estate licenses remain active for two years initially before needing to be renewed.1 For renewals, agents must complete at least 24 hours of approved continuing education courses and pay a $60 fee to the ADRE.

Agents can renew their licenses online through the ADRE portal.

Of the 24 credit hours required for renewal, the following hours must be obtained:

  • Agency Law (3 hours)
  • Disclosure (3 hours)
  • Contract Law (3 hours)
  • Fair Housing (3 hours)
  • Commissioner’s Standards (3 hours)
  • Real Estate Legal Issues (3 hours)
  • Plus additional elective categories (6 hours)

Agents must submit all certificates of the required courses and categories when seeking a license renewal. Failing to renew on time leads to license expiration.

Expired licenses can be reinstated by completing continuing education hours and paying a late fee before 1 year elapses. After 1 year, pre-licensing courses must be retaken.

Reciprocity

Arizona does not have full real estate license reciprocity with other states. As such, an Arizona license is only valid within the state.

However, Arizona does offer out-of-state license recognition for applicants that meet certain criteria like being an Arizona resident, holding an active out-of-state license for 1+ years,2 passing that state’s exam, and having a clean discipline history.

Applicants must still complete some Arizona-specific steps.

Required documents for out-of-state salesperson license recognition include:

To qualify for license reciprocity in Arizona, your out-of-state license must be in active status and good standing, you must have passed that state’s licensing exam, and have no disciplinary issues.
